Matt Isaacs - Coach
Matt played volleyball for four years at Zion-Benton as an Outside Hitter. His senior year, he helped lead the Zee-Bees to their first and only regional title, they fell one match short of going down to State. Along with that, he played club volleyball throughout high school for a few different clubs. 2018 was his first year as a Head Coach with LCVC and he is extremely excited to keep growing as a coach within this club while passing along what he has learned in a game he is so passionate about.
Mike Isaacs - Coach
Coach Mike Isaacs volleyball career started by accident. When his family transplanted across the country during his 5th grade year, Coach Isaacs wanted to get involved in his new school, and decided to give volleyball a try. Having never played before, it was indeed a journey and learning experience.
After that inaugural season way back in 1997, Coach Isaacs hasn’t slowed down his volleyball life. In high school, Coach Isaacs was a 2-year Varsity starter after changing from setter to outside hitter (only left-handed, outside hitter in the conference), he would go on to win MVP and All-Conference honors at Zion-Benton.
In college, Coach Isaacs continued to play both recreationally and competitively at Northern Illinois University, even playing on the scout team for the Division-1 women’s team. He began his coaching career at Sycamore Middle School while in clinical teaching, and hasn’t looked back. With experience at Naperville North with the girls program while student teaching, Coach Isaacs would come back home to begin coaching the ZB Freshman boys in the 2009-10 school year. Since then, Coach Isaacs oversaw the freshman program for 7 years, while also stepping into the girls program in the same role for 3 years. Coach Isaacs had the honor of being named Head Varsity coach at Zion-Benton in 2017.
During this time, Coach Isaacs met Jerome Farr while playing and reffing volleyball in the summertime. Through a mutual friend, they were properly introduced with the desire of starting a boys volleyball club that was family friendly, athlete oriented, and financially available to the young men in the northern Lake County area. From this, Lake County Volleyball Club was born in the fall of 2011. Starting with just 9 athletes (sophomores and juniors competing at the 18s level), and needing the help of supportive parents to even scrimmage, LCVC has grown ever since. Coach Isaacs is proud to have the opportunity to continue to share volleyball - one of his life's passions - with any and everyone he has the opportunity to play with and coach.
